新約聖書 ヨハネの黙示録 22章13節
わたしはアルファであり、オメガである。最初の者にして、最後の者。初めであり、終わりである。

わたしたちの父なる神と、主イエス・キリストからの恵みと平安が、あなたがたにありますように。
今日の「ローズンゲン日々の聖句」より与えられました御言葉は【新約聖書 ヨハネの黙示録 22章13節】です。
「わたしはアルファであり、オメガである。最初の者にして、最後の者。」
この言葉は、主イエス・キリストご自身が語られた、黙示録の締めくくりに響く宣言です。
世界の始まりと終わりを貫く主の御手は、歴史の大きな流れの中だけでなく、私たち一人ひとりの日々の歩みをも支えています。
私たちは日々の生活の中で、目の前の出来事に心を奪われ、不安や迷いの中で立ち止まってしまうことがあります。
「これからどうなるのだろう」と思う時、私たちの力ではどうしようもない状況に出会うこともあります。
けれども聖書は、イエス様ご自身が「最初であり、最後である」と語っておられることを伝えています。
これは、私たちの人生が偶然に左右されているのではなく、初めから終わりまで、ずっと神さまの導きの中にあるという力強い慰めです。
どんな始まりの時にも、そしてどんな終わりの時にも、イエス様は変わらず私たちと共におられるのです。
また、このイエス様の言葉には、神さまが私たちの成長を願っておられるという励ましも込められています。
信仰は、自分の努力だけで前に進むものではありません。
主が先に恵みを与え、私たちの心を少しずつ整え、優しさや思いやりという「愛の実」を結ばせてくださいます。
弱さがあっても大丈夫です。
主の恵みに応えて歩むたび、少しずつ造り変えられていきます。
人生には思いがけない試練も、予想しなかった喜びも訪れます。
しかしそのどれもを包むように、イエス様は「初め」であり「終わり」でいてくださいます。
イエス様が始めてくださった善い働きは、必ずイエス様ご自身が完成させてくださる。
この確かさを心に受けとめるとき、不安な時にも静かな平安が与えられます。
どうか今日も、私たちの歩みの最初にも、最後にもいてくださるイエス様を見上げ、その導きに安心して身をゆだねてまいりましょう。

天の父なる神様。
あなたが私たちの「初め」であり「終わり」でいてくださることを感謝いたします。
どんな時にも共にいてくださるあなたを信頼して、今日の歩みをおゆだねいたします。
主イエスキリストの御名により祈ります。

Sermon: “Jesus, the Alpha and the Omega”
Revelation 22:13
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (NRSV)
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Today’s Scripture from the Daily Watchwords is Revelation 22:13.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last.”
These are the words spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, echoing through the final chapter of the Book of Revelation. The hand of the Lord, who spans the beginning and the end of all things, sustains not only the great movements of history but also the daily steps of each one of us.
In our everyday lives, we often become overwhelmed by what is right in front of us. There are moments when anxiety rises, when the future feels uncertain, or when we face situations beyond our own strength.
Yet Scripture tells us that Jesus Himself declares, “I am the First and the Last.”
This means that our lives are not ruled by accident or chance. From the very beginning to the very end, we are held securely within God’s guidance. In every new beginning and in every ending we face, Jesus remains with us, unchanged and faithful.
These words of Jesus also carry His gentle encouragement.
Faith is not something we advance by our own effort alone. The Lord goes before us, pouring out His grace and shaping our hearts little by little, so that the fruit of love—kindness, compassion, and gentleness—may grow within us. Even in our weakness, we are not abandoned. Each step we take in response to His grace becomes part of the way He transforms us.
Life brings unexpected trials as well as unexpected joys. But in all of these, Jesus is our “Beginning” and our “End.” The good work that Jesus has started in us will surely be brought to completion by His own hand. When we rest in this truth, quiet peace fills our hearts—even in uncertain times.
So today, let us lift our eyes to Jesus, who stands at the beginning and at the end of our journey, and entrust ourselves to His faithful guidance.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
we thank You that You are our Beginning and our End.
We place today’s steps into Your hands, trusting that You are always with us.
Shape our hearts and lead us by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In His holy name we pray.
